Vision

To be an internationally recognized centre of excellence in slope engineering.

 

Mission

To ensure safer slopes for the country by establishing the state-of-the-art in slope engineering.

 

Objectives

  1. Formulate national policies on slopes by 2008

  2. Cataloguing at least one thousand (1000) slopes per year using SMART system and produce hazard and risk maps.
  3. Formulate new standards and guidelines on maintenance for slopes by 2006.
  4. Promote public awareness on slope hazards starting 2006.
  5. Implement preventive maintenance on problematic slopes yearly.
  6. Ensure routine inspection of slopes twice a year and at anytime when there is a long period of heavy rainfall.
  7. Implement landslide Early Warning System by 2006.
  8. Develop a system on information management by next year.
  9. Provide technical consultancy on slope engineering as requested.
  10. Carry out forensic investigation on failed slopes as directed.
  11. Develop staff competency in slope engineering.
  12. Undertake research and development in slope engineering especially in tropical environment.
  13. Undertake major slope repair works.

Client Charter

  1. Whenever big landslide is occurring:
    1. Staffs will immediately send to the site.
    2. Preliminary report on landslide will prepare in three (3) days from the visited date.
    3. Final report will complete in one (1) month after the investigation works had been done and relate information have been received.

  2. Whenever minor landslide is occurring:
    1. Slope Engineering Branch will visit to the site in one (1) week after received the complain.
    2. Recommendation on remedial/repair work will give in one (1) month after the investigation works had been done and all information had been received.
    3. If any landslides are not require the investigation works, recommendation on remedial/repair work will give in two (2) weeks.

  3. Technical comments on those geotechnical reports received from Local Authority Agencies will be made in one (1) week after visited to the related site.
